Developed in the 1870s in France’s Rhône region where it is known as  Durif  or  Petite Syrah, Its small berries, and consequently high skin-to-juice ratio, allow Petite Syrah to produce wines with high tannin levels, deep color, surprisingly high acidity, and thus the ability to age. Our 2011 Petit Syrah offers aromas of tobacco, violets and chocolate truffles. On the palates the wine if full and rich with concentrated flavors of blackberry, pepper and leather. Fine tannins anchor the finish of dark chocolate and bing cherries. Enjoy this Petit Syrah now or cellar for future enjoyment.

Made entirely of a Texas native grape, it has deep garnet hue with floral and tobacco aromas. The wine is medium bodied with a creamy middle palate that boasts nutmeg, cinnamon, dried fruit and almond. The finish is soft and more acidic that most red wines, thus making it very versatile with an array of foods. This wine is a consistent award winner.
